Claire Squires -- a British marathon runner who collapsed and passed away just before making the finish line of the London Marathon -- has truly inspired people all across the Internet.
Since Claire's death, thousands of people have made Internet donations to the charity for which she was running: Samaritans (a suicide support group).
"We desperately wish that it was not under these circumstances, but we have been overwhelmed by the response from people donating in Claire's memory," said Catherine Johnson, chief executive of Samaritans. "These donations will be put into a tribute fund and, following discussions with the family, will go towards projects they feel would have been important to Claire."
While we do send our deepest condolences to Claire's friends and family, we're truly touched to hear about the response, which has already totaled more than $500K in donations.
Did you know? ... In the USA, suicides were the 10th leading cause of death in 2007. Want to donate to Samaritans? Check out the website, here.
