Let's just get this out the way: Nive Jayaseka has her stuff together better than you.
Why? Well, the 17-year-old is currently trying to decide if she's going to accept a surprise offer from Facebook for one of the social-networking giant's highly-coveted, career-making internships.
Here's what happened. ... A couple of weeks ago, Home Depot sponsored a "hackathon event" at the Social-Loco conference in San Francisco. It was basically a competition that gave contestants a short amount of time to create a smartphone app for the hardware chain.
Nive, who will be attending Carnegie Mellon University in the fall, entered because of the $10,500 cash prize, which she then won with her Windows phone app that helps shoppers estimate what supplies they will need for projects and how much it will cost.
While waiting backstage, she met Emily White, Facebook's director of mobile partnerships, who was giving a speech later and who offered the computer whiz the internship on the spot. Of course, Nive is being demure about the whole thing, telling reporters, "the recruiting process is still going on."
Yeah, like we said, she's got her stuff together better than almost all of us.
