Horror buffs, rejoice!
New technology from Dolby Laboratories was tested on an audience for horror flick "V/H/S" at Sundance and, they were pretty terrified.
They were so scared, in fact, that one man ran from the theater and had a seizure in the lobby. His girlfriend ran after him, only to vomit when she got outside. They both got medical treatment and are fine now but, that's just a glimpse of what's to come.
The technology is based on 64 speaker feeds, which are strategically placed around a theater to make you feel like all of the sounds are coming from where they are in the movie.
"You can imagine watching a scary movie, and it's a scene when someone is hiding in a basement and there are footsteps on the floorboards above," explains Stuart Bowling, senior tech marketing manager for Dolby.
We're definitely ready to watch one of these. ... As long as we're allowed to cover our ears during all of the scary parts!
