What do you get when you put two sexy 'n' smart girls, one hot mama, Clint Eastwood and a band of six talented young men in one house?
The hottest new E! reality series on TV: "Mrs. Eastwood & Company."
Overtone was “discovered” by Dina and Clint Eastwood in Cape Town, South Africa, during filming for Clint’s film, "Invictus." Clint loved the group so much that he asked them to perform the majority of the soundtrack for the film, which stayed on the iTunes "Soundtrack Top 25" and peaked in the top 10 for four weeks.
Dina Eastwood, Clint's wife, was so amazed with Overtone's talent that she committed to managing the band. So, she moved the band into her family's home in Carmel, Calif.
And, the rest is, well, history.
This week, Eduard Leonard -- co-founder and "intellectual member" of Overtone, star of "Mrs. Eastwood & Company" and the oldest in the group -- took some time to fill Glittarazzi in on what's been happening in his life since the big move.
"It's surreal," he said. "I haven't fully grasped what is to come yet. I think it will sink in at some point, but it hasn't yet."
"Overtone band members can sing in English, Afrikaans and Zulu. Although they started as an a cappella band, the guys also play bass, guitar, drums and piano and write and record their own original compositions. Their repertoire includes close to 100 songs, ranging from traditional Zulu and Afrikaans folk to American pop music. Overtone has great audience rapport, appeals to all ages, and is also highly skilled at choreographed dance." ~via overtoneband.com
Eduard, who sings high end, lead, tenor and soprano (and plays the Djembe African bongo drum) for the group, said life's been a fantastic whirlwind since he met the Eastwoods. In the past three years, he said the band members have gone from being struggling musicians in South Africa to moving in with America's Hollywood elite -- which has resulted in a TV show, the launch of a successful career, and the ability to get their own place.
Yep -- the guys have moved out.
"As any band should do, we started making money and were able to afford our own place," he joked. "It's good to have your own place."
Eduard lives with three other band members in a private residence, which houses their personal space, offices and recording studio. The other two members of Overtone live together at another location, but come to their home daily. So, as you can imagine, their new home is bustling with activity from dawn 'til dusk. So, what do they do to keep their sanity?
"We all try to work out every day, and we try to get out of the house," he said. "A couple of us have taken up photography, so we spend a lot of our time doing that as well."
So, since the band's now in Los Angeles, mingling with celebs on a regular basis, are there any singers with whom Overtone would like to collaberate? Eduard said he would love to work with either Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber.
Now, Eduard couldn't tell us what happens on the show, of course, but he did say say it's going to be quite an entertaining experience for viewers. (We saw the sneak peek and agree.)
We'll be glued to the tube, along with the rest of the USA, Eduard. Thank you for chatting with us -- and best of luck to you!
