At first, I thought it was a joke when my friend, Bennett, tweeted and said he wanted to introduce me to Molly Ringwald.
Then, right there -- before my very eyes -- was a tweet to me and the gal that inspired me to turn my hair red and wear a pink dress when I was a kid.
Yes, folks, Molly has joined the Twittersphere (@MollyRingwald).
For those really young bucks out there who missed the decade between 1979 and 1990, Molly was the Angelina Jolie of the '80s. Not only did she make appearances on show, like "Diff'rent Strokes" and "The Facts Of Life," she was the star of classic, coming-of-age movies, such as "16 Candles," "Pretty In Pink" and "The Breakfast Club."
All of that fame was fun, but she needed a break. So, she did what any quirky gal would do ... she turned down the leads in "Ghost" and "Pretty Woman," made her hair blonde and moved to Paris.
Today, Molly, 43, is a mom and wife. She married Panio Gianopoulos, a Greek-American writer and book editor, and had three kids, including two 2-year-olds, all of which have made appearances on her new Twitter page. She's also written two book, "Getting The Pretty Back" -- which "is sure to charm women of all ages with Molly's unforgettably personal, refreshingly outspoken take on life, love, and, of course, finding that perfect red lipstick" -- and "When It Happens To You." And, she's singing.
What's she do when she's not writing, performing and taking care of her fam? She plays the role of Anne Juergens in ABC Family's "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" -- a role she knows well since many movie critics have dubbed her "the greatest teen star of all time."
So, welcome to Twitter, Molly. You are still pretty in pink and we're happy to tweet you.
