Meet Marissa Mayer.
She's kind of a big deal in the tech industry.
A Google engineer, going back to the early days of the company, turned executive, Marissa is credited with coming up with Google's simple and clean all-white homepage. She also headed up Gmail, Google Maps and the company's Location Services.
But, on Monday, Yahoo announced that they'd hired her as its new CEO.
This bit of news is huge for a couple reasons. First, Yahoo has been in trouble for the last few years and in desperate need of leadership. Second, she's female -- and the tech industry is notoriously a boys club with very few lady bosses.
But, our favorite part about this girl power in business story is how Marissa is known as the fashionista of Silicon Valley. Seriously. She was profiled in Vogue and is famous for having a stunning wardrobe full of the latest couture fashion, including an obsession with designer Oscar de la Renta. It kind of flies in the face of the hoodie-wearing tech CEO standard we've all come to expect. (Zuckerberg, we're looking your way!)
And, to top things off, her new job wasn't Marissa's only good news on Monday. ... She also announced on Twitter that she was pregnant.
Wow, Marissa! That's certainly one great way to start off the work week.
