If you've never heard of baseball player Glenn Burke, listen up!
Not only was he the first openly gay professional baseball player -- he's also credited with inventing the high five.
Could you even imagine a world in which "How I Met You Mother" Star Barney Stinson couldn't give high fives? We certainly couldn't. And, now we know that we have Glenn to thank for that.
You can help to spread Glenn's legacy by signing this Change.Org petition to get him inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame (some haters are trying to keep him out).
DiD yOu KnOw? ... Glenn faced all kinds of abuse from his teammates when he came out of the closet. They called him names and pressured him to marry a woman. Glenn eventually died from AIDS-related complications at the young age of 42. For the suffering he faced, and his trail-blazing ways, we definitely think that you should take a second to sign the petition!
