You know the POTUS election is heating up when it starts looking like a dogfight.
No, seriously, dog owners are fighting about this -- and one of the groups is more a parody.
It's a little confusing, though, so let's start at the beginning.
Way back in 2007, Mitt Romney told a story to reporter at the Boston Globe about how he transported the family dog during a Romney clan road trip in the '80s. The tale goes that there wasn't enough room in the car for everyone -- plus the dog, Seamus -- so, Mitt tied their dog cage to the roof with Seamus inside for the 12-hour trek. There was even side story, which was about how the pooch had pooped in cage out of fear and Mitt had to hose him down at a gas station. (Gross!)
Anyway, since then, the tale has been brought up by animal lovers every time Mitt makes noise about running for the White House. And, now, there are now two websites about it: DogsAgainstRomney.com and MittIsMean.org. (The latter group is backed by a SuperPAC with a $1 million budget).
In response, Mitt's supporters have pointed out that in his memoir, "Dreams of My Father," President Obama admits to eating dog while he was a child, living in Indonesia. To be fair, that and the ensuing #ObamaDogRecipes trend on Twitter was more of joke. It even sparked a pretty funny Tumblr blog.
But, this week, both sides have videos making the rounds online, which you can check out, below.
We're still waiting to hear from the feline contingent, but knowing those amoral furry bastards ... their support will go to whichever candidate is opening a can of tuna at that exact moment.
